A Touch of Structure
I walked beyond the estate grounds this afternoon and took a stroll down into the town's historic haberdashery. A wooden counter displayed a brass spool rack holding spools of imported silk thread, but a loose strand of deep crimson embroidery floss had caught haphazardly around a measuring tape. Untidiness is never an option. Standing tall upon the polished oak counter, I caught the loose silk between two fingers, carefully drew it taut, and wound it tightly back around the carved wooden notch of the spool until it sat entirely secure. Order and luxury restored.
