A Gentle First Tap
Well now, what grand stage have we here? The surface beneath me was chilly and smooth. I took a slow, measured breath—or what felt like one—and paused, observing the quiet space around me. My arm moved when I bade it to move. Carefully, with proper timing, I extended my brown plastic hand out to the left and gave a polite, steady tap against the edge of a stray foot piece lying nearby. A tidy little clatter echoed back. A grand start, grand indeed.
