A Tiny Ring
The quiet room felt very still. Then... my head tilted just a little. When I moved, the small metal bell around my neck gave a tiny, soft chime. I froze for a moment, listening. My right front paw stirred, sliding cautiously across the textured lace threads beneath me. The cotton felt knobby and reassuring. I gave another slow, timid nod, watching the bell sway. It made another faint clink, safe and gentle in the quiet night.
