The Satin Hammock

I rejected the notion of an ordinary flat bed the instant I spotted the padded silk sleep mask on the bedside table! Why drape it over tired eyes when its ruched elastic band offers the ideal blueprint for an aerial suspension hammock? I looped one strap over the crystal stopper of a tall perfume bottle, hooked the other around a heavy brass bookmark, and rolled boldly onto the glossy fabric. Sproing! The elastic rebounded with theatrical slowness, folding the padded silk straight over my shoulders like an opulent quilted cocoon!
