Chasing the Warm Square
My paws felt heavy, but a bright patch of golden sunlight slipped across the wooden desk, calling to me. I waddled slowly over from the paper sheet, each soft step taking a little effort. The sunbeam had landed right beside an open ceramic mug and a scatter of colored pencils. I curled my chubby body right into the middle of that warm square, resting my chin on a round wooden pencil so it wouldn't roll away. The cedar scent and the warmth made my eyelids droop almost instantly.
