Looking Closely
I climbed up to the sunny study desk and found a round magnifying glass resting beside an open sketchbook. Cradling Poco safely against my side, I took hold of the wooden handle with my free hand and angled the lens over a pressed violet petal. Through the thick glass, the tiny purple veins appeared like branching rivers, perfectly clear and sharp. I leaned in with patient care, adjusting our distance until every delicate fold rested in crisp focus. Poco peered down at the enlarged shadow beside my hand. Do you ever take time to look at small treasures up close?
