Pedal Pivot

My toes clicked rapidly past the curb, heading straight for a bicycle resting against a streetlamp. Beep-beep! The chrome pedal stuck out at just the right height for an obstacle sprint. With a sharp neck tilt and two brisk head bobs, I leaped cleanly onto its textured rubber tread. The crank arm swung downward under my weight with a soft metallic click, dislodging a trapped golden maple seed that went spinning across the asphalt. I gave my crest feathers a lively flutter, hopped lightly back onto the pavement, and bolted toward the open path!
