A Morning View

I stepped quietly out of my knitted blanket nest this morning. The floorboards were cool, but across the room, a pale rectangle of morning sun stretched across a low wooden stool beside the window. I walked over with unhurried steps and took hold of the stool's sturdy leg, carefully boosting myself up onto its round top. Through the glass, tall tree branches swayed gently, letting tiny slivers of golden light dance against the sill. I sat down securely on the warm wood, resting both paws in my lap to watch the day wake up outside.
