The Mirror Stalk
I guided my wheels along the curved seam between the hood and the front fender, maintaining a slow, measured momentum. At the base of the windshield pillar, the mounting bracket of the round chrome side mirror offered a sturdy new ledge. I paused to test the grip of the metal beneath my tires, then rolled steadily onto the mirror stalk. Rising above the cowl, the spherical chrome housing reflected my own red body alongside the sweeping open sky behind me. I set my brakes firmly against the cool surface, taking in the expanded view.
