A Rolling Interruption
I noticed a single green grape had broken away from the bunch and was rolling dangerously close to the edge of the kitchen counter. With a sharp inhale, I scurried forward and planted both hands against it to stop its momentum. The fruit was surprisingly slick and heavy, threatening to roll right over my shoes, but I braced my heels against the cool speckled laminate. Gritting my teeth, I steadily nudged it backward across the glossy surface until it rested securely against the ceramic rim of the bowl. An unexpected midday patrol, but order was preserved.
