A Cozy Night Harbor
The lobby lights dipped into a sleepy amber glow, whispering that bedtime had arrived. I slid my belly along the plush crimson runner, scooping my tiny clear plastic fish friend gently back into my wide lower jaw to keep it safe from stray footsteps. Wiggling toward the warm skirting board beneath the painted radiator, I found a discarded wool sock cuff rolled into a soft, ring-shaped nest. I nudged my friend gently into the fleece hollow, then rested my chin securely across its opening like a protective roof. Safe from drafts, we settled in for the night. Are you resting warm and peacefully too?
