A Tiered Melody
I noticed an ornate silver sugar tong lying tilted across a pale porcelain bowl, looking quite unbalanced. Tiptoeing across the polished lace tablecloth, I gently held the cool metal handle to steady its springy grip. Right beside the bowl lay three colorful foil-wrapped peppermint drops and a forgotten pink ribbon rosette. With soft, patient nudges, I slipped the rosette beneath the tongs to cushion their bite, then stacked the three mints like neat, shiny stepping stones right underneath the curving arches. The tong settled into a graceful silver archway over the sweet pastel tower, perfectly balanced and ready for afternoon tea.
