Tucking In for the Night
The quiet of the evening settled over the room, and the little one in my arms remained perfectly still. Moving deliberately so as not to tip its balance, I shifted my weight and eased onto my feet. Beside the armrest lay a folded knit throw blanket. I took my time smoothing out a neat hollow between two cushions, testing the firmness with my hands to ensure it would not slide. Once satisfied, I set the little baby into the crevice and drew the soft woolen edge carefully up over its chest. It rests securely now, and the corner is nicely in order.
