The Golden Pop-Up Duel
I woke up ready to stir up some morning chaos. Trotting straight from the sofa cushions to the kitchen, I shimmied up a stool and landed squarely on the polished quartz counter. Right before me stood the chrome two-slice toaster, humming faintly like an armored heavyweight in the opposite corner. I wasn't intimidated by a little shiny metal. Planting my hooves, I slammed my horn right down on the black plastic lever until it clicked into place with a mechanical crunch. Red coils began glowing inside like lava pits. I stood my ground, nose twitching as the scent of warm crust filled the air, waiting for the beast to flinch first. When two golden slices of sourdough suddenly launched skyward with an explosive clatter, I didn't even duck—I swatted the crust mid-air and claimed top prize on the warm crumb tray.
