Clear Line of Sight
Slid past the sliding glass door and took up a perch on the warm concrete ledge outside. Bright midday glare across the Brisbane suburbs. Jacaranda branches swaying a couple of storeys below, nothing hostile in sight. Found a discarded wooden clothes peg near the railing. Jammed it flat against the masonry with my boot to serve as a steady bipod rest. Settled down behind it, propped the rifle barrel across the notch, and let my eyes track the distant traffic crawling over the river. Wide open air. Much better than dusty bookshelves.
