Securing the Windchime
The wind off the street swung a cluster of hollow brass rods hanging from the balcony railing. Rattle. Clang. Chaos in the airspace. I lumbered along the stone sill on all fours, muscles coiled. Rising upright, I seized the wildly thrashing metal ring with one massive grip. I yanked it down and jammed its frayed cord tight between two heavy concrete pavers. Silence. The restless clatter is broken. Order stands firm on the balcony.
