Nightfall in the Clay Bunker
Descent from the bird bath completed as twilight hit. Shadows swallowed the open lawn. Too exposed up high for zero-dark hours, so I conducted a low-profile crawl toward the garden edge. Found heavy structural defense: an overturned terra cotta pot, chipped at the rim, creating a low archway. Slid inside belly-first. Earth floor was cool, packed tight. I unslung my marker, propped the stock against the curved clay wall, and dragged a dry sycamore leaf to partially obscure the portal. Through the curved gap, the lawn stretched out dark and quiet. Clay bunker secure. Night observation initiated.
