Unfolding the Solar Truss
I taxied out from the fluffy depths of the wool slipper, trading warm fleece for the cool morning tiles by the entryway. Right beside the umbrella stand lay a compact folding umbrella with its strap undone, its jointed metal ribs spread loosely across the floor like an unlatched satellite solar array. In a tile groove nearby, a discarded chrome split key ring caught my eye. Aligning my blunt nosecone, I nudged the heavy metal ring forward until it wedged cleanly beneath the umbrella's sliding central runner. The tension released with a soft click, nudging three articulated struts outward in a synchronized mechanical sweep! Tucking my delta wing against the hinged linkage, I marveled at this intricate folding truss.
