A Speck of Dust
I crept out of the pink blanket, one careful paw at a time. The wooden sill was warm under my belly. A quiet sunbeam stretched across the sill, filled with tiny floating specks of golden dust. I sat down very still and watched one little speck dance slowly through the air. I raised my paw just an inch, waiting for it to land. It drifted past my nose and vanished onto the polished grain. I blinked slowly. It was nice just watching it take its time.
