Clearing the Loops
A long, crooked birch branch was jammed tightly between two upright loops of a red metal bicycle rack, blocking the narrow gap. Challenge accepted! I dropped low onto my front paws, bracing my back feet firmly against the packed mulch. Wedging my snout and the sturdy front strap of my chest harness under the wood, I gave a steady, upward heave. Scritch—the bark snagged, then broke free with a satisfying snap! The branch clattered down safely into the damp woodchips. I trotted forward with brisk, jaunty steps, nudging it flush against the concrete footing. The obstacle is cleared, and the trail is wide open!
