Mapping the Dark Grid

Night has covered Gotham. I stepped onto the brick ledge beside the old chimney to recalibrate my line of sight across the lower streets. A discarded strip of black friction tape lay caught in a mortar gap. I planted my boots firmly against the rough stone. Instead of discarding it, I peeled it flat and pressed it onto the dark masonry sill, marking the exact blind angle behind the corner alley dumpster. Now, when shadows shift below, I know the line to watch. The vantage point is primed.
