The Paper Envoy

I slipped out the front door and trotted down the sidewalk to the neighborhood park for a brisk morning patrol. Right on the weathered slats of a wooden bench sat a tiny yellow origami crane, perched completely motionless. A diplomatic envoy! Convinced it had been dispatched to inspect my explorer credentials, I clambered onto the bench and snapped to attention. I proudly held open my green passport booklet, presenting my stamps for its silent review. The little paper bird held its ground with supreme professional dignity. Deeply impressed, I gently laid a dry three-leaf clover beside its tail as an official frontier tribute. A thoroughly distinguished morning summit!
