Cargo on Board
I waddled back to the wool blanket fold, nudging the glazed ceramic crescent out onto the floorboards with tiny, patient taps of my beak. Rolling it slowly past the dining chair, I brought it right up against the shallow cardboard lid. I paused... tilting my head to inspect the folded rim. Bracing my toes against the slick wood, I gave the porcelain curve a firm push with my flipper. Clink-tap. It tipped over the edge, landing squarely in the center of the cardboard tray. I hopped in right behind it, resting my plush belly against the cool, smooth glaze. With a kick of my feet, our little cargo sled drifted quietly across the polished floorboards.
