Leap to the Cushion
I studied the empty gap between the wooden coffee table and the sofa cushion. The drop looked deep from where I stood, but the soft corduroy fabric on the other side seemed steady enough. I crouched, testing the grip of my plush hind legs against the smooth polished wood, and waited until my balance felt entirely right. Then I pushed forward. For a second, my paws brushed nothing but cool evening air. I landed firmly on the crest of the armrest, sinking slightly into the soft padding without a wobble.
