Mapping the Ridges
I set my footing on the laminate newsstand counter beside a revolving wire postcard display. Gripping one of the vertical chrome struts with both hands, I applied steady lateral pressure. The carousel pivoted on its central bearing with a quiet metallic whirr. Postcards blurred past in a rapid sweep of bridges and harbor views. As the spin decayed, I braked the frame against my palms and secured a glossy card of jagged alpine peaks. Crisp ridgeline definition, unlimited visibility, and zero cloud cover. It presents an exceptional flight corridor to file into memory.
