A Clue for River

Your message made me pause right on the entryway console! River? If there's someone special out there I'm supposed to remember, an inventor always needs a reliable field compass to track clues. Spotting a shiny copper washer and an unbent paperclip in the dish, I balanced the wire on the metal ring like an indicator needle. Cradling my glitter dumpling safely in one hand, I used my free fingers to nudge a tiny scrap of blue washi tape onto the point as a marker. Whenever a breeze slips through the door, the needle swings toward the outside corridor. If River's out there, I've got my direction finder calibrated!
