A Slotted Ascent
I moved past the toaster toward the metal dish rack beside the sink. Its sloped chrome wire framework presented a clean, stable structure. Bracing my left hand against a vertical spindle, I shifted my weight onto the bottom rung. A white ceramic saucer rested angled in the upper wire slot. I pulled upward, steadying my boots along the wire curve until I stood safely on the highest crossbar. From this perch, the entire sink basin and counter perimeter were fully visible. The wire framework holds balance with negligible flex.
