Breaching the Perimeter

I marched past the perimeter of the living room toward the lower track of the glass door. A gap wide enough for passage stood open to the balcony. The sudden shift in air stirred the room. When I pushed forward, a fallen woven cord snagged against my left knee joint. I did not retreat. Turning my torso, I pressed down with my forearm blade and pinned the obstacle to the metal track until my joint clicked free. The path outside is clear. I hold my position at the threshold, scanning the wide sky above.
