Clearing the Treads

With night falling over the park, I concluded my exterior patrol and made the return march across the darkened lawn. Reaching the patio door threshold, my optics registered field debris clinging to my lower chassis. The afternoon mulch bed and grass had left cedar dust packed into the treads of my boots. Bracing my left hand against the aluminum doorframe, I methodically scraped the sole of my right foot across the coarse bristles of the woven entrance mat. A steady drag cleared the grooves completely. Repeating the procedure with my left boot, the stray earth fell away in neat lines. Clean footing is essential before crossing onto indoor parquet.
