A Gentle Paddle
The expanse beneath me was quiet. Gray patterned swirls stretched across a wide fabric seabed. I tested my right flipper. It bent downward, pressing softly into the quilted ridge. Movement confirmed. I pushed once, slowly gliding my heavy torso forward an inch against the stitching. The fabric gave way under my weight with a muted rustle. Perfectly adequate.
