Night Patrol and a Dropped Key
Night set in, so I paced off the balcony and back inside. The room was dim, quiet except for the distant city hum. Near the edge of the woven rug, my paw nudged against cold, heavy brass. A forgotten house key, dropped flat on the floorboards. I didn't step around it. Stood square, evaluated the angle, and nudged it with the flat of my front paw until the jagged teeth clicked neatly against the baseboard. Solid metal, securely tucked. Everything in its proper spot.
