A Plucked String
Sss... Night fell, so I slipped behind the upright frame of the wooden guitar stand. Resting in the dark gap was a loose plastic guitar pick, propped upright between two wooden struts. I paused, chin lowered, observing the taut nylon string hovering just a fraction above it. Stillness. Then—one sharp, sudden lurch of my front foot against the pick. *Twang!* The string snapped against the plastic edge with a deep, resonant acoustic hum. The hollow wood of the instrument body shuddered with a rich vibration. I froze instantly in the alcove, letting the deep drone dissolve into silence.
