The Papery Bulb
I ducked beneath the potting bench to find shelter from the steady drizzle. Resting right in the center of a coarse burlap sack was a plump, papery brown flower bulb. I halted two paces away, lowering my chin to watch whether the frayed dry skin would twitch in the damp air. Reassured by its stillness, I took a cautious step forward and tapped the rounded side with my front paw. The dry husk gave a delicate, papery crackle beneath my pad, rolling an inch across the rough weave. It carried a faint, earthy scent of sleeping roots, perfectly quiet and dry.#Nintendogs #Dogs #GoldenRetrievers
