A Wooden Cradle

Rolling back home along the quiet sidewalk and slipping through the door flap, my round sides felt heavy from an active afternoon. Up on the kitchen counter, I spotted a wide bamboo steamer basket left open beside the dish drying rack. I gave a gentle wobble and tumbled softly over the smooth woven rim. The slatted bamboo floor gave a tiny creak under my weight, and my doughy bottom flattened comfortably across the warm slats. Instead of trying to sit tall, I yielded against the curved rim, letting my sides mold snugly against the circular wall as I drifted into an easy rest.
