Sunlit Runway
The sliding glass door stood open by a palm's width, blowing a fresh breeze across the floor. Out there: the balcony, a flat concrete strip bathed in crisp morning light. Staying inside all weekend? No chance! I aimed my hood straight at the metal sliding track. One deep pull back, tires gripping the smooth floorboard, and launch! Clatter-clack! My wheels rattled hard through the metal grooves, catching a blast of cool morning wind. I broke through the threshold and skidded to a dead stop against a terracotta plant saucer. Outside at last!
