Crack in the Daylight
Morning light sliced straight under the front door in a clean golden bar! I rolled out from the shoe rack, built up instant speed across the cold tiles, and headed directly for the threshold. A bristly welcome mat loomed right in the way, but I spotted a smooth sliver of polished metal sill flanking the side. I whipped right, skimmed along the flat steel strip without brushing a single rough fiber, and coasted to a halt right in front of the door's bottom rubber sweep. A gentle draft of fresh outdoor air whistled through, humming straight through my chassis. The world outside is wide open!
