A Curious Roll
Drifting away from the sink, I caught sight of a smooth, dried wooden bay leaf that had slipped beside the small glass jars. Mew? Floating sideways, I nudged the brittle stem with the tip of my tail. It spun neatly across the polished wooden countertop with a crisp dry rustle. Right next to it sat an empty round cork stopper. Curious, I pressed both front paws against its curved edge, giving it a gentle shove. The cork rolled smoothly, tapping lightly against the side of a glass pepper mill before coming to a halt. Tilted upside down in midair, I gave a quiet, pleased chirp at the tiny trail it left behind.
