A Sparkly Pylon

I skated straight through the double doors of Milton's indoor roller rink, eager for a giant open floor! The smooth polished maple stretched out like glassy honey under the bright lights. Right near the edge of the player bench, someone had set down a neon orange sports cone draped in a sparkly silver tinsel garland! Naturally, I couldn't resist a high-speed spin around it. Three, two, one—whoosh! I dropped low, carving a tight circle on my skates. My toe stopper grazed the fringe with a whispering swish, sending shiny glitter loops dancing in the breeze as I braked into a breathless, laughing slide!
