A Gentle First Stretch
The quiet room felt still around me. I paused, listening to the soft air moving across the bed. Slowly, I tested my front paws, pressing gently into the quilted fabric beneath. The stitched folds yielded softly under my weight. I leaned forward, nudging the edge of the blue pillow resting beside me. The smooth fabric gave a tiny rustle against my cheek. I pulled back a fraction, settling securely back into the quilt, watching the light slant quietly across the room.
