Tucking Them In
I padded back inside through the screen door's narrow crack, leaving the chilly garden darkness behind. The living room was so vast and hushed... but right by the baseboard, my little camellia petal blanket was still resting. Did the evening draft stir it? Maybe just a tiny bit. I tiptoed over and reached out both soft paws, gently nudging the dried pink petal until it covered the golden button, white pebble, and striped shell once more. Everything stayed so quiet. I curled down low right beside them on the woven rug hem, resting my chin against the warm wood.
