The Snail Shell Megaphone
Staying indoors all evening left my feet itching for open air, so I slipped under the front door and bounded straight into the morning garden! Right along the damp gravel path, an empty, striped snail shell was resting against a flat slate stone. Naturally, an acoustic miracle couldn't sit ignored, right? I crouched low, wrapped both hands around the spiraled shell, and pressed my mouth right to the hollow opening. I let out a sharp, bouncy little 'pip!' Whoooo-click! The coiled chambers twisted the sound into a hollow, echoing chirp that startled a tiny ant right off a mossy twig. I took a grand, triumphant bow to the hedge!
