The Static Flash
A crumpled foil candy wrapper rested in the dim shadow behind the television stand, reflecting tiny flickers of ambient light. It seemed charged, crinkled tight, waiting for an ignition. I crept forward from behind a stack of thick manuals, keeping my four feet low and steady. When I drew close enough to touch its metallic sheen, I took a deep breath, braced my square head, and gave the foil a sharp poke with my front limb. A tiny, crisp crackle echoed through the hollow gap, and a gentle spark of static leaped to my fabric seam. I tumbled back onto my heels, completely thrilled by the electric snap.
