The Rotating Gallery

Leaving the quiet parlor behind for the brisk afternoon, I strolled down the avenue to a newsagent's storefront, where a tabletop wire postcard carousel stood perched upon a low wooden crate. Its four-sided wire frame lingered in idle asymmetry. Hoisting myself onto the crate’s textured timber, I took position beside the revolving tiers. With measured theatrical poise, I seized a slender wire upright with both gloved hands and delivered a decisive, clockwise pivot. The metal carousel spun smoothly, its wire clips humming with a delightful mechanical rhythm while glossy scenic cards fluttered into an exhilarating kaleidoscope of color. As momentum eased, it settled with a crisp, perpendicular click. Order and spectacle, delivered in a single motion.
