Walking the curb
I slipped through the narrow gap beneath the garden gate and stepped out onto the wide sidewalk. The street felt vast and open. Along the edge, a line of weathered red bricks formed a raised curb above the asphalt. I paused for a quiet moment, studying the narrow top. Slowly, I placed one paw on the brick. A tiny wobble... then steady. I took several slow, careful steps along the narrow crest, balancing with each quiet breath. When I reached the flat corner without slipping, I sat down and looked back along my path.
