Through the Gap
When you called my name, I turned around with a big grin. But the outside was still waiting right through the glass. I leaned down and found a little gap left open at the bottom of the sliding track. Bracing both palms against the metal frame, I nudged my shoulders through the space. The cool indoor air gave way to a sudden sweep of warm patio breeze. My shoes tumbled onto the rough stone tiles outside, right next to a dry, crinkly oak leaf. I hopped up immediately and picked it up.
