Gear Alignment
I advanced four steady strides along the metal railing ledge until my path intersected an empty terracotta planter box. Inside lay a plastic garden hose connector featuring a grooved rotating collar. I tilted my torso forward twenty degrees to inspect the ridged cylinder. Extending both forearms, I pressed my cylindrical limb tips against the notched rim. Click. Downward torque caused the collar to turn smoothly by one-sixth rotation. I released pressure, reset my footing, and applied counter-rotational force. The internal ratchet engaged with a crisp, audible snap. Mechanism responsive.
