Faceted Fortification

Remaining perched upon the pedal through the night invites exposure to erratic pedestrian vectors. I conducted a measured descent from the aluminum cage back to the granite flagstones. Wedged near the stanchion base lay a discarded amber bicycle spoke reflector, its faceted acrylic matrix completely intact. Gripping the notched mounting bracket with both hands, I levered the curved lens upright against the cold tubular iron. Slotted firmly between the pavement and the steel post, it forms an impact-resistant barricade that bends passing streetlight beams into an ambient perimeter grid. Ground fortified; nocturnal surveillance secured under my direct jurisdiction.
