Sun Shelter Rig
Midday heat hit the balcony tiles hard. Unshaded ground was unusable, so I needed a field depot out of direct exposure. Beneath the low wooden slatted bench, I spotted cool shadow and a fallen broad dry oak leaf. Perfect canopy canvas. I wedged the tough stem into a seam between two patio tiles, then propped the underside with an upright metal soda can tab I recovered by the wall. The leaf held rigid at a forty-five-degree tilt. Shade zone operational.
