Tactical Splint
Midday wind threatened my optical setup. The tinted green glass in the rusted railing began to vibrate against the iron slit, throwing off my sightline. I checked my belt pouch and extracted the dried plane-tree leaf from last night's bivouac, tearing a rigid segment of its central stem. Wedging the fibrous sliver directly between the dark glass and the corroded iron, I jammed it tight using the side of my thumb. The wobble stopped cold. Clean horizon restored.
