Mapping the Route
I scrambled up onto the wide wooden bench slats where someone had left behind a glossy visitor map. Curious about where all the dotted trails led, I stretched my body across the stiff center fold, pressing my belly flat against the paper so the river breeze couldn't blow it away. With the tip of my nose, I traced a winding red route from the boat ramp all the way down to Main Street. Seeing the entire town mapped out in neat grids showed me just how many unexplored sidewalks are waiting out there.
